More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Holding its ground today following its 8/03/10 gap up gain to a new all-time high after reporting earnings +69% on +20% better sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2010 versus the year ago period. Interestingly, it was noted on 5/04/10 after reporting earnings +44% on +19% better sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Have a look at its chart and note that its up and down annual earnings history (A criteria) remains a fundamental concern. Noted in 5/03/10 mid-day report - "Results for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009 showed increases in sales and earnings after 4 quarters of negative comparisons. It has rebounded impressively from its Bear Market lows, however its fundamentals are below guidelines, having slumped subsequent to the company's removal from the CANSLIM.net Featured Stocks list on 4/22/08 - details were then covered in the CANSLIM.net After Market Update with an annotated graph (read here)."

Pulling back from its 52-week high, enduring some profit-taking pressure today. Technically, it is now very extended after rising from an 11-week cup shaped pattern with no handle. The Louisville-based Pollution Control - Services firm still has only 3.55 million shares (S criteria) in the public float after a 3:2 split effective 6/02/10, which could lead to more dramatic price volatility in the event of any abrupt institutional buying or selling. Based on weakness it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 9/09/08 and subsequently slumped from $10.94 to as low as $2.39 before rebounding impressively. Recent quarters showed a dramatic upturn in sales revenues and earnings after some negative comparisons.

Hit another new 52-week high today, getting extended from prior chart highs after a recent streak of gains backed by above average volume. Noted in recent mid-day reports - "without forming a sound base pattern it is rallying clear of resistance due to overhead supply. The 2 latest quarters showed better sales revenues and earnings improvement, but its prior quarterly and annual earnings history (C and A criteria) has been below guidelines of the fact-based investment system."

Most Recent Note for OPEN - 8/4/2010 12:55:26 PM
Considerable gain today with above average volume for a new all-time high, getting extended from prior chart highs. It found support at its 50 DMA and upward trendline as it recently endured mild distributional pressure. The C criteria is satisfied as earnings and sales revenues increases have been strong the 4 latest quarterly comparisons versus the year ago period. It got off to a very volatile start after its 5/11/09 IPO at $20, and it slumped for more than 4 months after it completed a Secondary Offering on 9/23/09. The company's management still owns a 32% stake in its shares and top-rated funds owning shares rose from 50 in Sep '09 to 73 in Jun '10..

Gapped up today and hit a new 52-week high with a considerable gain on very heavy volume immediately following strong results for the quarter ended June 30, 2010. No overhead supply remains to act as resistance after its "breakaway gap" following a deep 3-month consolidation. Based on weak action it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 5/07/10 and subsequently fell from $225 to $173 before beginning its impressive rebound.

Holding its ground stubbornly near its 52-week high. Among several high-ranked leaders (L criteria) in the Cosmetics/Personal Care group appearing in recent mid-day reports, this network marketer of dietary supplements, health foods, and skin care products quarter ending June 30, 2010 showed sales revenues up +12% and earnings per share up +21% versus the year ago period. Noted in recent mid-day reports - "Showing recent improvement, but fundamentally the C and A criteria are not satisfied. Current earnings per share should be up +25% or more and in the 3 or 4 latest comparisons versus the year earlier, and ideally growth should be accelerating in recent quarters. Quarterly sales should also be up +25% or more or accelerating over prior quarters."
