More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Most Recent Note for EGO - 8/19/2011 12:11:51 PM
Holding its ground near 2011 highs. Last noted in the 8/11/11 mid-day report - "Adding to a recent spurt of volume-driven gains that are helping it approach its 2010 all-time high of $20.23. It survived but failed to impress since it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 8/19/10. Reported earnings +40% on +22% sales revenues for the latest quarter ended June 30, 2011, but the 3 prior quarterly comparisons showed earnings increases below the +25% guideline concerning the C criteria."

Gapped down today and then quickly rebounded from another 50 DMA line violation. Noted in the 8/17/11 mid-day report - "Fundamentals are still sub par today. Quarterly sales revenues increases in the +1-6% range for the past 8 comparisons versus the year ago period are an indication there has not been great growth in demand for its products."

Most Recent Note for GOLD - 8/19/2011 12:15:14 PM
Making its 3rd consecutive mid-day report appearance, this UK-headquartered firm in the Mining - Gold/Silver/Gems group is on track for a 9th consecutive weekly gain, hitting new all-time highs with no overhead supply remaining to act as resistance. Sales revenues and earnings increases in the Mar '11 and Jun '11 quarterly comparisons have been much greater than the +25% minimum guideline following sub par Dec '10 quarterly results. Up and down annual earnings (A criteria) history is also a concern.

Most Recent Note for MCD - 8/19/2011 12:16:31 PM
Rallying up from its 50 DMA line, perched just -1.9% off its 52-week high hit on 7/22/11. In 5 prior mid-day reports thus far in August it was noted - "The global burger giant's stock is viewed as a "safe haven" and longtime favorite for some institutional investors, however, with 1.04 billion shares outstanding it is unlikely to be a sprinter capable of many-fold price increases. Earnings increases in the quarterly comparisons have not met the +25% minimum guideline, and sales revenues increases have been sub par."

Hit another new 52-week high as it gapped up today after inching higher this week, rising with no resistance remaining due to overhead supply. Rebounding near its 50 DMA line today. Slumped below its 200 DMA line since last noted in the 7/06/11 mid-day report - "Perched at its 52-week high today after a recent spurt of volume-driven gains helped it rally above prior highs in the $61-63 area. Quarterly earnings increases decelerated to below the +25% range in the Mar '11 quarter while sales revenues have been in the +5-13% range in the past 7 quarterly comparisons versus the year ago periods. Several auto-parts firms are showing concurrent leadership, which is a common theme whenever economic conditions pressure more consumers into repairing their clunkers rather than buying new cars they cannot afford. Its annual earnings history has been sluggish (A criteria)."
