Gapped up today, rallying for a new 52-week high. The 3/16/11 mid-day report noted - "It found support near its 50 DMA line and continued rising since last noted in the 2/22/11 mid-day report and in the 1/19/11 mid-day report, as that short-term average defines a level where institutional investors tend to accumulate shares when the outlook for a company is still considered favorable. Earlier reports noted - 'This MLP in the Energy - Coal industry has a quarterly and annual earnings history that has not been strong and steady.'"

Gapped up again today, reaching a new high after another brief dip below its 50 DMA line. It was noted on 11/19/10 for "sub par fundamentals". Mentioned in the 3/14/11 market commentary (read here) as coal and solar energy-related companies benefited while investors looked for alternatives. It survived but failed to impress since long-ago noted on 10/26/07 - "Previously featured issue was dropped from the CANSLIM.net Featured Stocks list on 5/22/2006."

Gapped up today and hit a new high. The 3/16/11 mid-day report noted - "Stayed well above its 50 DMA line during its steady rally from September lows near $50 on above its 2008 high ($70) and further. Annual earnings history (A criteria) has not been strong and steady. Long ago, weak technical action prompted its removal from the Featured Stocks list on 7/02/08 after it made limited progress since the 5/01/08 analysis with annotated graph was published (read here). It actually made good progress after it gapped up and was first featured in the 4/16/08 CANSLIM.net Mid-Day BreakOuts Report rising from a '3-weeks tight' type of chart pattern (read here)."

Last noted in the 2/18/11 mid-day report and earlier reports - "No resistance remains due to overhead supply. Holding its ground -8% off its 52-week high today, extended from any sound base. Healthy action has continued since a considerable gain on 2/09/11 with heavy volume was noted as technically another "breakaway gap" following it latest earnings report. Prior mid-day reports noted - "A downward turn in its FY '09 earnings is an obvious flaw with respect to the investment system's A criteria today. It is an interesting turn around story with a small supply of only 20.6 million shares (S criteria) outstanding. Longtime members may recall that SSYS was long ago (2003) featured in our monthly newsletter and special reports."

Overcoming recent distributional pressure and its gap up today has it within close striking distance of its 52-week high while challenging previous resistance in the $32-33 area. It went through a deep consolidation below its 200 DMA line then rebounded since last noted in the mid-day report on 4/30/10 - "Perched near its 52-week high after reaching an intra-day high above the pivot point of a 15-week cup with handle pattern. Recent quarters show better sales and earnings but prior quarters and its annual earnings (A criteria) are below guidelines of the fact-based system."
