More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

G - Hovering near its "max buy" level today, slightly extended from its prior base. On its pullback following last week's technical breakout the prior highs acted as support. A subsequent close under its old high close ($61.54 on 8/03/11) would completely negate the recent technical breakout.

Holding its ground near its 52-week high today, on track for a 6th consecutive weekly gain and extended from any sound base pattern. Quarterly sales revenues and earnings increases in the 4 latest comparisons through June 30, 2011 were well above the +25% guideline satisfying the C criteria. The downturn in FY '09 earnings is a fundamental flaw concerning the A criteria. With respect to the I criteria, the number of top rated funds owning its shares fell from 911 in Mar '11 to 861 in Jun '11. It survived but failed to impress since 4/23/2008 when it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list and subsequently fell from $13 to $3 over the next 6 months. First it had traded up as much as +25.4% after it was first featured at $15.89 in the February 2008 CANSLIM.net News (read here).

Consolidating in tight range since 6/29/11 news it is to be acquired by Leonard Green Partners and CVC for $51.25 per shares. Unimpressive sales growth and annual earnings history (A criteria) are concerns, while its latest quarterly earnings increase of +26% on +10% sales revenues for the April '11 period was its first comparison above the +25% earnings guideline in years.

Reported earnings +52% on +41% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Found support above its 200 DMA line during its consolidation since noted in the 7/11/11 mid-day report - "Sales revenues and earnings have improved in the 2 most recent quarterly comparisons (Dec '10 and Mar '11) after a streak of negative or weak comparisons. This Panama-based airline is at its 52-week high and within close striking distance of its 2007 all-time high ($73.33). Annual earnings (the A criteria) growth has been good, and increasing institutional ownership (the I criteria) is an encouraging sign."

Abruptly pulling back with above average volume behind losses after reaching a new 52-week high on Wednesday. Recently cleared resistance in the $35 area may now act as a support level. Reported earnings +24% on +11% sales revenues for the quarter ended July 31, 2011 versus the prior session. Losses in FY '07 & '08 are a flaw concerning the investment system's A criteria, and consensus estimates call for earnings -8% in FY '12 and -9% in FY '13.

In prior mid-day reports it was repeatedly noted - "The global burger giant's stock is viewed as a "safe haven" and longtime favorite for some institutional investors, however, with 1.04 billion shares outstanding it is unlikely to be a sprinter capable of many-fold price increases.
