Most Recent Note for AAPL - 7/28/2011 12:00:11 PM
Hovering near its all-time high today, extended from any sound base. Steadily rallying after reporting very strong earnings +122% on +82% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. With the second largest market cap of all publicly traded firms, AAPL does not fit the mold of a small growth firm unknown by the institutional crowd. It has a stellar earnings track record that solidly satisfies the C and A criteria. After its last appearance on 8/09/10 in the Featured Stock Update section (with detailed notes and an annotated graph) it was noted in multiple mid-day reports through 2010 as it rallied to new all-time highs, and it was also noted a handful of times earlier this year.

Rebounding after a damaging loss with heavy volume on the prior session, yet still consolidating below its 50 DMA line which may act as resistance. Hit its 52-week high on 5/19/11 when noted in the mid-day report - "Earnings increases have been above the +25% guideline in the past 4 quarterly comparisons versus the year earlier, but during that span its sales revenues were in the negative -1-3% range. Annual earnings (A criteria) history is also below the investment system's guidelines."

Making its 3rd mid-day report appearance of the week while hovering near its 52-week high with no resistance remaining due to overhead supply. Quarterly sales revenues and earnings increases in the 3 latest comparisons through March 31, 2011 were above the +25% guideline satisfying the C criteria. The downturn in FY '09 earnings is a flaw concerning the A criteria. With respect to the I criteria, the number of top rated funds owning its shares fell from 902 in Mar '11 to 853 in Jun '11. It survived but failed to impress since 4/23/2008 when it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list and subsequently fell from $13 to $3 over the next 6 months. First it had traded up as much as +25.4% after it was first featured at $15.89 in the February 2008 CANSLIM.net News (read here).

Gapped up today after reporting earnings +133% on +127% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Bullish action has continued while it rarely and briefly paused to consolidate since last noted in the 5/23/11 mid-day report - "Inching higher today for new all-time high and it could go on to produce more climactic gains.. It completed a Public Offering on 5/05/11 and technically formed an advanced '3-weeks tight' pattern, however a new pivot point is not being cited. Reported earnings +129% on +101% sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period. Prior mid-day reports noted- "Reported earnings +47% on +13% sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period. It had consolidated back and forth near its 50 DMA line since completing a 12/02/10 Secondary Offering, and recently wedged into new high territory without great volume conviction behind its gains. Sales revenues increases have been steadily in the +9-13% range for the past year and a half, not showing strong growth or acceleration indicative of great growth in demand for its products or services.
