Stubbornly holding its ground near all-time highs following a recent streak of volume-driven gains. It rose from another base-on-base type pattern last week. Last noted in the 5/05/11 mid-day report - "Technically broke out on 4/14/11 from a base-on-base pattern. No overhead supply exists to act as resistance. The company has a strong annual earnings history (A criteria). The C criteria has not been well satisfied by +25% earnings increases in quarterly comparisons. Blue triangles beside the quarterly earnings figure in at least the past 8 comparisons indicate pre-tax, non-recurring items were included (where possible, such items are normally removed to provide data better suited for comparison). The restaurant operator survived but failed to impress as it went through several long and very deep corrections since it was dropped from the CANSLIM.net Featured Stocks List on 8/15/2007."

Hitting new 52-week and all-time highs today with its 14th gain in the span of 15 sessions. It formed a 12-week cup shaped pattern without a handle which included a slump under its 50 DMA line during its consolidation since last noted in the 4/14/11 mid-day report. FY '10 was its first ever profitable year, while the A criteria calls for a strong 3-5 year earnings growth history. Recent quarterly comparisons showed greatly improved sales revenues and earnings increases. The Medical - Ethical Drugs firm rose more than 60-fold from its low of $0.52 in April 2009. Ownership by top-rated funds rose from 117 in Jun '10 to 216 in Mar '11, a reassuring sign concerning the I criteria.

This well-known online movie services firm gapped up today, hitting new all-time highs. It is quickly getting very extended while rallying from an even riskier "late-stage" consolidation shorter than the minimum length for a sound new base pattern. Its 50 DMA line and prior highs acted as support. It has maintained high ranks and its earnings history still satisfies the C and A criteria. Choppy action has made it challenging to make a proper entry since NFLX was previously dropped from the Featured Stocks page on 3/03/11, yet it has made impressive progress.

Holding its ground today near its 52-week high. Found support well above its 50 DMA line during its consolidation from the prior high which it hit when noted in the 6/06/11 mid-day report - "No resistance remains due to overhead supply after its 5/13/10 IPO and choppy history. Reported earnings +42% on +27% sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period, satisfying the C criteria with 3 consecutive quarters of earnings increases above the +25% guideline. The lack of leadership (L criteria) in the Telecom Services - Wireless and its lack of a strong annual earnings (A criteria) history are concerns."

Hovering near its 52-week high today. It has endured distributional pressure in recent weeks yet above average volume has also been behind several of its gains since it held its ground above its 50 DMA line. Prior mid-day reports have repeatedly noted - "Its up and down annual earnings (questionable A) history is a concern. There is a small supply of only 4.63 million shares in its float, which can contribute to greater price volatility in the event of institutional buying or selling. It survived but failed to impress since last noted in the 4/22/08 mid-day report."

Reversed into the red today after touching another new 52-week high. It is extended from any sound base and stubbornly held its ground after rising from a short flat base pattern. Noted in prior mid-day reports - "Reported earnings +47% on +13% sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period. It had consolidated back and forth near its 50 DMA line since completing a 12/02/10 Secondary Offering, and recently wedged into new high territory without great volume conviction behind its gains. Sales revenues increases have been steadily in the +9-13% range for the past year and a half, not showing strong growth or acceleration indicative of great growth in demand for its products or services. A Secondary Offering on 5/19/10 followed its 10/28/09 reorganization."
