More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Found support near its 50 DMA line last week during its quiet consolidation since last noted in the 5/19/11 mid-day report - "Hit new 52-week and all-time highs with a solid gain on the prior session with above average volume, getting more extended from any sound base pattern. It has shown steady annual earnings growth, but quarterly earnings and sales increases have repeatedly been reported below guidelines through the Mar '11 quarter."

Most Recent Note for ASPS - 6/22/2011 12:09:10 PM
Enduring mild distributional pressure while holding its ground well above its 50 DMA line, consolidating after rallying to new all-time highs with considerable volume-driven gains. Disciplined investors may watch for secondary buy points or a sound new base to possibly be formed and noted. It built an orderly base-on-base type pattern and technically broke out with a considerable gain on 4/20/11. Subsequent volume driven gains helped its Relative Strength Rank improve, however it is extended from any sound base pattern now. This Luxembourg-based Financial Services firm's small supply (S criteria) of only 16.8 million shares in the public float can contribute to greater volatility in the event of institutional buying or selling. ASPS was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 10/07/10 then violated its 200 DMA with a streak of volume-driven losses, and it subsequently rebounded back above its 200 DMA and 50 DMA lines.

Hovering near its 52-week high, stubbornly holding its ground after a recent technical breakout. Prior mid-day reports repeatedly noted - "Recent quarterly comparisons show sales revenues and earnings improving after a streak of negative comparisons after a downturn and loss in FY '09. Erratic earnings history makes it, fundamentally, below the investment system guidelines."

Today it hit another new 52-week high, rising further above previously stubborn resistance in the mid-$19 area, breaking out from an orderly base with a spurt of volume-driven gains. Reported earnings +23% on +5% sales for the quarter ended March 31, 2011. Prior mid-day reports - "Reported earnings +100% on +5% sales revenues for the quarter ended December 31, 2010 versus the year ago period. Its earnings history has been strong, but the lack of sales revenues growth raises concerns that there is not great or growing demand for a new (N criteria) product or services."

Holding its ground following its 6/20/11 gap up after finding support at its 50 DMA line last week. Rallying near its 52-week and multi-year high hit when it gapped up on 4/21/11. Prior mid-day reports noted - "Reported earnings +32% on +9% sales for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period. Held its ground and kept rising following the considerable 4/11/11 gap up gain on heavy volume. Earnings and sales growth history is below the guidelines of the fact-based investment system, still. It survived but failed to impress since last noted in October 2007 mid-day reports after a huge gap up on news if had interested buyers including Carl Icahn."

Produced strong earnings increases above the +25% guideline in quarterly comparisons and strong annual earnings (C and A criteria) growth. Sales revenues increases in the +6-8% range for the past 4 quarterly comparisons through March '11 show no great growth in demand for its products and services. Today's 4th consecutive gain has it challenging its 52-week and all-time highs after finding support near its 50 DMA line while consolidating since last noted in the 5/12/11 mid-day report - "No overhead supply remains to hinder its progress, however it is getting extended from a sound base pattern. Found great support near its 50 DMA line since the previously noted technical breakout from a base on 2/11/11. Secondary Offerings were completed on 3/31/10 and on 8/18/10."

Some may consider it a short "square-box" type base being formed while rallying toward its all-time highs today. It has spent very little time consolidating during its ascent since its 4/05/11 gap up on news it would buy Procter & Gamble's Pringles. Strong earnings history in recent years (A criteria). Earnings rose +73% on +61% sales revenues in the quarter ended April 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. The Dec '10 quarter also showed strong increases, but quarterly earnings were reported at -24% for the Oct '10 period, a flaw in its otherwise impressive earnings history. Small supply of only 22 million outstanding shares (S criteria) could contribute to greater volatility in the event of any institutional maneuvering.

Rebounding above its 50 DMA line today. Found support near prior chart lows and just above its 200 DMA line during its consolidation since last noted in the 4/21/11 mid-day report. It ran into stubborn resistance in the $68 area as it touched a new 52-week high and was then noted - "Sales revenues and earnings increases in recent quarterly comparisons have been strong enough to satisfy the C criteria, but concerns are raised by a downturn in FY '09 earnings (A criteria) and a streak of negative comparisons."
