Most Recent Note for ASPS - 6/3/2011 12:45:29 PM
Rallying to a new all-time high today with a considerable volume-driven gain. Disciplined investors may watch for secondary buy points or a sound new base to possibly be formed and noted. It built an orderly base-on-base type pattern and technically broke out with a considerable gain on 4/20/11. Subsequent volume driven gains helped its Relative Strength Rank improve, however it is extended from any sound base pattern now. This Luxembourg-based Financial Services firm's small supply (S criteria) of only 16.8 million shares in the public float can contribute to greater volatility in the event of institutional buying or selling. ASPS was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 10/07/10 then violated its 200 DMA with a streak of volume-driven losses, and it subsequently rebounded back above its 200 DMA and 50 DMA lines.

Held its ground stubbornly near its 50 DMA line again during its consolidation since last noted in the 5/05/11 mid-day report - "Steadily advanced since a 9/03/10 breakaway gap, continually finding support above its 50 DMA line. Recent quarters showed better sales and earnings increases versus the year earlier. Prior quarterly comparisons and annual earnings (A criteria) growth have not been strong and steady, so it is fundamentally below guidelines of the fact-based investment system. It survived but failed to impress since dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 3/29/05."

Consolidating since a considerable gap up on 5/19/11 for new 52-week and all-time highs. Technically, it is extended from any sound base, while no overhead supply remains to act as resistance. Reported earnings +34% on +14% sales revenues for the quarter ended April 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Good annual earnings history and quarterly earnings increases above the +25% meet the investment system's C and A guidelines, however sales revenues have shown just steady increases in the +12-14% range.

Volume-driven gains helped it inch up for new 52-week and all-time highs (above its 2007 high) this week. Stubbornly held its ground in a tight range in recent weeks. It is not near a sound base pattern now, yet prior mid-day reports have noted - "Disciplined investors may watch for secondary buy points or a sound new base to develop and be noted in the weeks ahead. Sales revenues and earnings increases (C criteria) have shown impressive acceleration in recent quarterly comparisons. Concern were previously noted because its annual earnings (A criteria) history was up and down, yet recent fundamental and technical action has been a better match for winning models of the fact-based investment system."

Consolidating near its 50 DMA line today with a 3rd consecutive loss with above average volume. Last noted in the 5/09/11 mid-day report when hitting a 52-week high - "With a considerable gain after announcing a 2:1 stock split and 20 percent increase in its quarterly dividend. Found support near its 50 DMA line last week while consolidating and building on an orderly base. Ownership interest by top-rated funds fell from 397 in Jun '10 to 364 in Mar '11, which is not reassuring concerning the I criteria. Earnings increases in recent comparisons have been mostly above the +25% guideline but sales revenues increases in the +5-11% range have been sub par."

Perched above its 50 DMA line today after challenging stubborn resistance in the $17 area with a volume-driven gap up gain on the prior session. Sales revenues and earnings have not shown strong steady increases, and a loss in FY '10 is a flaw in the annual earnings (A criteria) history.

Blue triangles beside the yearly earnings numbers in each year from 2005-2009 on the data service used by our experts indicate pre-tax, non-recurring items were included (where possible, such items are normally removed to provide data better suited for comparison).
