Hit a new 52-week high on the prior session with a solid gain on above average volume, after recently rallying clear of resistance due to overhead supply. It found support above prior highs in the $41 area during its recent consolidation. The 5/11/11 and prior mid-day reports noted - "Recent quarters show sales and earnings improving but prior history is below the fact-based system's guidelines. Quarterly and annual earnings results include blue triangles beside the reported earnings figures - the blue triangles are symbols indicating that pre-tax, non-recurring items were included (where possible, such items are normally removed to provide data better suited for comparison)."

Disciplined investors may watch for a sound base to possibly develop and be noted. This high-ranked Chemicals - Specialty firm is currently extended from any sound base and hitting new 52-week and all-time highs today. Recent quarterly comparisons show gradual sales revenues acceleration and it has maintained a strong annual earnings history, with earnings growth satisfying the C and A criteria. Reported earnings +25% on +22% sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period.

Produced strong earnings increases above the +25% guideline in quarterly comparisons and strong annual earnings (C and A criteria) growth, but sales revenues increases in the +6-8% range for the past 4 quarterly comparisons through March '11 show no great growth in demand for its products and services. No overhead supply remains to hinder its progress, however it is getting extended from a sound base pattern. Found great support near its 50 DMA line since the previously noted technical breakout from a base on 2/11/11. Secondary Offerings were completed on 3/31/10 and on 8/18/10.

Technically it broke out with a solid volume-driven gain on 5/10/11, and it hit another new 52-week high today. It faces no resistance due to overhead supply. The 5/04/11 mid-day report noted - "Rallying toward its 52-week high from below its 50 DMA line today with its 5th consecutive gain. It has shown strong steady annual earnings growth (good A criteria) however sales revenues have not grown in recent years while quarterly earnings results were mostly below the +25% guideline. It survived but failed to impress since long ago noted in the 7/18/08 mid-day report and earlier reports. "

Held its ground stubbornly and rose further with above average volume behind additional gains since a "breakaway gap" on 4/26/11. As noted in prior mid-day reports - "Downturn in FY '09 and FY '10 earnings (A criteria) earnings makes it fall below the fact-based investment system's fundamental guidelines."

Holding its ground in a tight range near its 52-week high since last noted in the 5/04/11 mid-day report after considerable gains with heavy volume. Recent quarterly comparisons (C criteria) showed mostly impressive sales and earnings increases, including a +38% earnings increase on +34% for the March 2011 period, but results for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2010 were below guidelines. A downturn in its FY '08 earnings was also previously noted as a flaw with respect to the A criteria of the fact-based investment system.

Concern were previously noted because its annual earnings (A criteria) history was up and down, yet recent fundamental and technical action has been a better match for winning models of the fact-based investment system. It is clear of all resistance due to overhead supply, however it is extended from its recent base after spiking to new 52-week highs and now above multi-year highs (above its 2007 high) this week with a spurt of volume-driven gains. Disciplined investors may watch for sound buy points to develop and be noted in the weeks ahead if the broader market (M criteria) rally continues. Sales revenues and earnings increases (C criteria) have shown impressive acceleration in recent quarterly comparisons.

Today's 8th consecutive small gain helped it inch up with above average volume for yet another new 52-week high. Recent mid-day report repeatedly noted - "No overhead supply remains to act as resistance. Reported earnings +136% on +25% sales revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 versus the year ago period. Recent quarters showed much better sales and earnings increases versus the year earlier. Prior quarterly comparisons and annual earnings (A criteria) growth has been erratic and below guidelines of the fact-based investment system. Holding it ground today following a 5/11/11 gap up and technical breakout from an orderly base for a new 52-week high. It posted 6 gains with above average volume in the span of 7 sessions, a sign of institutional accumulation after finding prompt support near its 50 DMA line. It is clear of resistance due to overhead supply and may be on course to challenge its 2007-2008 all-time highs. However, its annual earnings history included a downturn in FY '09, a flaw with respect to the A criteria. The latest 3 quarterly comparisons through Mar '11 show sales revenues and earnings improving versus the year ago period(s) after a patch of negative comparisons.
