Hitting new 52-week and all-time highs with a solid gain today. Steadily rallied since last noted in the 1/06/12 mid-day report challenging its high - "With a 3rd consecutive gain after building an orderly flat base above its 50 DMA line. Went through a deep consolidation below its 200 DMA line since noted in the 5/17/11 mid-day report - 'Recent quarterly comparisons showed strong earnings, however sub par sales revenues growth has been a concern while increases have been in the +7-11% range. Autozone Inc (AZO) and similar players (MNRO & ORLY) in the auto-repair arena have been noted in recent months while consumers have been fixing their old cars instead of buying new cars they cannot afford."

Considerable "breakaway gap" today for a new all-time high. Tested support at its 200 DMA line recently and rallied back to new highs with volume conviction. Reported earnings +33% on +34% sales revenues for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 versus the year ago period. The C criteria is better satisfied with 3 of the past 4 quarterly comparisons now above the +25% guideline, making it a better match with the fact-based system's guidelines. The company has a strong annual earnings history (A criteria). Breakaway gaps are one noted exception to the rule that investors should avoid chasing stocks more than +5% above prior chart highs, however risk increases that an ordinary pullback may prompt selling rules. Patient investors may watch for secondary buy points to possibly develop and be noted.

Touched another new 52-week high today. After a spurt of volume-driven gains in recent weeks it is extended from its prior chart highs. Reported earnings -17% on +29% sales revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Noted in the 7/29/11 mid-day report - "Churning heavy volume this week while challenging multi-year highs. Earnings history has been erratic. Showing solid quarterly sales revenues increases. Ownership by top rated funds fell from 746 in Sep '10 to 579 in June '11. There are fundamental concerns due to pre-tax, non-recurring items included in the past 8 quarterly reports. This is indicated by blue triangles in the earnings per share box on the chart service used by CANSLIM.net experts."
