More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Holding its ground today at multi-year highs after a considerable gap up on 1/20/10 with very heavy volume. A large loss on 1/15/10 with heavy volume led to a test of support its 10-week average. Fundamentally, its recent quarters including the period ended Dec 31, 2009 showed accelerating sales revenues increases and much improved earnings. Its annual earnings (A criteria) have also grown impressively since its downturn in FY '07.

Considerable gain with heavy volume today, rallying to new multi-year highs after a quiet consolidation above its 50 DMA line. It has maintained a good annual earnings (A criteria) history. Quarterly sales and earnings results were much improved in the period ended Dec 31, 2009, but prior comparisons showed sales and earnings repeatedly below the guidelines of the investment system, leaving fundamental concerns.

Perched near its 52-week high while making its 4th mid-day report appearance of 2010. Sub par sales revenues increases and its up and down annual earnings history raise fundamental concerns. Group leadership (the L criteria) has been a factor helping many healthcare companies in recent weeks, meanwhile policy-makers have met behind closed doors to negotiate healthcare reform plans which will impact the industry.

Most Recent Note for ISRG - 1/21/2010 1:00:52 PM
Consolidating since hitting a new 52-week high on 1/19/10, the higher volume and lack of meaningful price progress of late suggests that it is encountering distributional pressure. Found support at its 50 DMA line after reporting its latest quarterly results - 3 out of 4 of which have been under the investment system's minimum guidelines. Its annual earnings history (the A criteria) has been very impressive. It has rebounded impressively from its March lows and is an interesting turnaround story, but the C criteria is not solidly satisfied. Notes outlined technical deterioration before and when it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 6/10/08. ISRG had traded up more than 13-fold after first featured in yellow in CANSLIM.net reports on August 18, 2004.

Most Recent Note for LULU - 1/21/2010 1:04:20 PM
Consolidating in a tight range for the past 2 weeks since rallying to new 52-week highs. This Retail - Clothing/Shoe firm appeared for the first time in the mid-day report on 12/22/09, noted when it gapped up and was "rising from an orderly flat base above its 50 DMA line." It has a good annual earnings history (A criteria) and recent quarters showed sales revenues accelerating. Fundamentals are below the investment system guidelines, however, as the latest quarter ended Oct 31, 2009 was its first quarter with +25% sales revenues and earnings increases after 4 prior quarterly comparisons with sub par results. The investment system's models of great winners typically had 3-4 quarters of strong earnings increases.

Hit a new 52-week high earlier today, then reversed back into its latest orderly base above its 50 DMA line and prior flat bases. Sales revenues increased +4% in the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009 after revenue declines in each of the prior 4 quarterly comparisons. Earnings have been much improved in the 3 latest quarterly comparisons, however its up and down annual earnings (A criteria) history makes the Retail - Restaurants firm fall below the guidelines of the investment system.

Steadily climbing to new 52-week highs in recent weeks, it has not built any orderly base. Good annual earnings (A criteria) history. Quarterly earnings increases have been mostly under the +25% guideline, but accelerating. Sales revenues increases in the +12-14% range are a sign of mediocre growth.
