More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Y - Reversed into the red after spiking to a new all-time high with today's early gains. Reported earnings +55% on +21% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Volume-driven gains and a strong finish for new highs with heavy volume would be a technical buy signal, however the weaker market action (M criteria) of late is arguing against new buying efforts.

Pulling back today following a considerable 7/29/11 volume-driven gain for a new all-time high. Support may be expected near prior chart resistance in $62 area. Reported earnings +26% on +15% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Its quarterly sales revenues and earnings per share track record has been borderline or below the investment system's minimum guidelines. The number of top-rated funds owning its shares waned from 943 in Mar '11 to 939 in Jun '11, and it is already heavily owned by the institutional crowd. This Computer Software - Medical firm has a great annual earnings (A criteria) history.

Gapped up again today for a second consecutive volume-driven gain and hit another new 52-week high, rising from support at its 50 DMA and prior highs which were the top of an orderly saucer-with-handle type base pattern previously noted. The 3 latest quarterly comparisons through June '11 showed strong sales revenues and earnings increases with impressive acceleration, however the downward turn in FY '09 and FY '10 earnings (A criteria) is a concern, as prior mid-day reports noted - "Annual earnings history has not been strong and steady."

Gapped up today challenging last week's new 52-week high with above average volume behind its spurt of recent gains. Held its ground after its considerable "breakaway gap" for a new 52-week high on 7/21/11 after reporting earnings +217% on +26% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Its annual earnings (A criteria) growth has not been strong and steady, with a downturn in FY '09 earnings a flaw making it fundamentally below guidelines of the fact-based investment system.

Rallied from a test of support at its 50 DMA line last week, today challenging recent resistance in the $27 area and its 52-week high. Reported earnings +61% on +18% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. No resistance remains due to overhead supply. Recent quarterly earnings increases above the +25% guideline satisfy the C criteria, but its up and down annual earnings (A criteria) history is a concern. Based on weak action it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 10/03/08 and fundamentals deteriorated afterward while it slumped from above $21 to as low as $8.57 before rebounding.

Fundamentals are still sub par today. Slumped to its 200 DMA line then rebounded to new highs and formed base-on-base patterns since last noted in the 9/01/10 mid-day report -"Hit a new 52-week high today, which may interest technical traders. However, quarterly sales revenues increases in the +1-6% range for the past 8 comparisons versus the year ago period are an indication there has not been great growth in demand for its products."

Consolidating from its all-time high. There was a considerable gap up on 7/19/11 for a new all-time high after reporting earnings +18% on +12% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 versus the year ago period. Prior mid-day reports noted - "Quarterly sales revenues and earnings increases have not met the investment system guidelines. It has maintained a solid annual earnings (A criteria) history since it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 9/05/08. Hit another new 52-week and all-time high today, quickly getting extended from its prior base with a 2nd consecutive considerable volume-driven gain. There is no overhead supply remaining to act as resistance. Reported earnings +193% on +59% sales revenues for the quarter ended June 30, 2011. Technically it found support near prior highs during its quiet consolidation after noted in the 7/14/11 mid-day report when rising from a cup-with-handle pattern which included a slump under its 50 DMA line. FY '10 was its first ever profitable year, while the A criteria calls for a strong 3-5 year earnings growth history. Recent quarterly comparisons showed greatly improved sales revenues and earnings increases. The Medical - Ethical Drugs firm rose 80-fold from its low of $0.52 in April 2009. Ownership by top-rated funds rose from 117 in Jun '10 to 216 in Jun '11, a reassuring sign concerning the I criteria.

It survived but failed to impress since it was dropped from the Featured Stocks list on 6/12/2008. Churning above average volume near its 52-week high without making meaningful price progress after 4 weeks of consolidation in an orderly fashion above prior resistance in the $37-38 area. Held its ground stubbornly and formed a base-on-base type pattern since a breakaway gap on 3/10/11.
