Hitting yet another new 52-week high with above average volume behind today's 4th consecutive considerable gain, rallying after forming an "ascending base" pattern. Found support above its 50 DMA line during the pullback since noted in the 6/18/13 mid-day report with caution - "Extended from any sound base. Powered higher after recently raising guidance for its 2nd quarter. This Sunnyvale, CA based Telecom - Fiber Optics firm showed better increases in sales and earnings for the Sep, Dec '12, and Mar '13 quarters versus the year ago period, above the +25% minimum guideline (C criteria). Prior quarterly and annual earnings (A criteria) history has been below the fact-based investment system's guidelines."

Consolidating in a tight range since a considerable gap up and volume-driven gain on 5/29/13 for a new 52-week high on news it will merge with Stewart Enterprises (STEI). Stubbornly held its ground and made gradual progress since noted in the 4/25/13 mid-day report when also tallying a considerable volume-driven gain for a new high - "Reported earnings +40% on +8% sales revenues for the Mar '13 quarter. Prior mid-day reports cautioned - 'Quarterly earnings increases have been below the +25% guideline and sales revenues increases were only in the +3-7% range. Its annual earnings (A criteria) history also falls short of the fundamental guidelines of the investment system.'"

Rebounding above its 50 DMA line today, yet it faces resistance due to overhead supply up through the $72 level. Prior reports cautioned members due to fundamental concerns - "Reported earnings +18% on +12% sales revenues for the Jan '13 quarter. Reported earnings +43% on +1% sales revenues for the quarter ended October 31, 2012 versus the year ago period. Earnings increases were below the +25% minimum guideline (C criteria) in the 3 prior quarterly comparisons and sales revenues growth has been sub par, making it not a good match with the guidelines of the fact-based investment system. This UK-based retailer of jewelry has an annual earnings (A criteria) history that has been improving after a downward turn in FY '08 and '09."

This Israeli manufacturer of Computer - Networking devices faces no resistance due to overhead supply while hitting another new 52-week high today, getting more extended from any sound base. Found support at its 50 DMA line when noted in the 6/24/13 mid-day report with caution -"Reported strong sales and earnings increases for the Mar '13 and Dec '12 quarters, accelerating after a streak of sub par quarterly earnings comparisons (bad C criteria). Gapped up today, rallying toward multi-month resistance in the $92-94 area. Reported earnings +54% on +116% sales revenues for the Mar '13 quarter versus the year ago period. Downward turn in its FY '09 earnings was previously noted as a flaw with respect to the investment system's A criteria. Found support near its 200 DMA line during a deep consolidation earlier this year. Ownership by top-rated funds rose from 246 in Sep '12 to 277 in Jun '13, a reassuring sign concerning the I criteria. It is an interesting turn around story with a small supply of 36.7 million shares (S criteria) outstanding. Longtime members may recall that SSYS was long ago (2003) featured in reports.
