More details about this report...
At around
mid-way through each trading day we run
a screen against our database of
high-ranked stocks, searching for
possible buy candidates that are trading
at or near their 52-week high on above
average volume. The results of that
screen are split into the two sections
you see below. The first, titled
"TODAY's FEATURED STOCKS" shows stocks
that our experts have recently
identified as among the strongest candidates to
consider. Stocks highlighted in yellow
are the most timely and noteworthy, so
particular attention and prompt action
may be appropriate. The second section,
titled "TODAY's BREAKOUT SCREEN" shows
the remainder of stocks meeting today's
screen parameters. Our experts have
reviewed and included notes on these
stocks as well, but found that they may
not match up as favorably.

Most Recent Note for AAPL - 4/21/2010 12:13:00 PM
Gapped up today for a new all-time high well above $250 following the release of strong results for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009. The 4/16/10 mid-day report described it as "extended from any sound base" while since its powerful breakaway gap on 3/05/10 it steadily climbed. Previously noted - "It showed accelerating sales and earnings increases for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009 and rebounded impressively since 'Apple, Once Sweet, Now Rotten!' headlined follow-up coverage of this previously featured favorite with a stellar annual earnings (A criteria) history. Its 900 million shares outstanding is a huge supply (S criteria), making the fact that recent quarterly comparisons have shown impressive earnings and sales acceleration that much more impressive! Quarterly growth has improved meaningfully, and it is again looking more like the big winning examples shown in the book 'How to Make Money in Stocks' with regard to the C criteria of the proven investment system."

Perched near its 52-week high, it encountered distributional pressure since noted on 4/06/10 after several small gaps higher with above average volume helped it rally from a "reverse-head-and-shoulders" type pattern. As noted in recent mid-day reports, and back in late '09, this "German firm is a high-ranked Electronics - Semiconductor Equipment company that has shown good earnings growth in recent years, but quarterly sales and earnings results have been erratic and below the investment system's guidelines."

Consolidating near its 52-week high, having found support well above prior chart highs and its 50 DMA line (coinciding in the $15-16 area now) since a big negative reversal on 4/12/10. Fundamental data is showing many years of losses (bad A criteria) for this master limited partnership, while sequential revenue increases and earnings in recent quarters have been very impressive.

Most Recent Note for DEST - 4/21/2010 12:50:32 PM
Today marks the 7th mid-day report appearance this month for DEST. This Retail - Clothing/Shoe firm's sales revenues in the past 8 quarters were below the respective year ago periods, indicating no new growth in demand for its products or services (bad N criteria). It has reported great quarterly earnings increases recently, and it is hovering near its 52-week high after recently rising from a base-on-base type pattern formed since noted on 2/03/10 in the mid-day report. Its small supply (S criteria) of only 4.52 million shares in the float could contribute to greater price volatility. Up and down annual earnings (A criteria) history is also a concern.

Considerable gain today, this Financial Services - Misc firm is rallying with heavy volume near its 52-week high and it has cleared a long flat base, leaving no overhead supply to act as resistance. Annual earnings (A criteria) history showed an ugly turn downward since FY '05 only improving in FY '09. Quarterly and annual results include blue triangles on the service our experts use beside the figures - symbols indicating that pre-tax, non-recurring items were included (where possible, such items are normally removed to provide data better suited for comparison).
